Nyanza Sister Church

Our Sister Church in Nyanza

The Rwandan Anglican Church (PEAR) came to our spiritual aid in a time of deep distress in the North American Church by providing us with leadership, oversight, and protection that allows us the freedom to plant Biblically-faithful and mission-minded churches like Apostles all over the U.S. We are connected in the work of Christ.

Rwanda continues to rebuild after the 1994 genocide that devastated the country, killing one out of every eight people in the small central African nation. The Church has much work to do in Rwanda, and we are committed to helping them rebuild a society based on the Gospel and to meet the great needs of their people. These needs include HIV/AIDS prevention, theological education for their church leadership, support to the thousands of genocide and AIDS orphans, education for their children, and much more.

Since 2006 we’ve been connected with a Sister Church in Nyanza, a historic city in the southern part of the country that is part of the Diocese of Butare. Our connection with Nyanza Parish allows us to focus our gifts and resources to make a difference. We know the leaders and people personally and keep in regular communication with them. We pray for each other! Our shared ministry with each other is based on building close relationships. We also support their Compassion International Project (RW-728)—which teaches and nurtures approximately 260 local children. It has been amazing over the years to see these relationships grow and deepen in Christ.
